National Highways Essential Roadworks

Plan to carry out essential resurfacing on the A12 southbound between junctions 25 and 23. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.

We plan to complete this work over two nights on Wednesday 14 January and Friday 16 January 2026. We will work overnight between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A12 southbound between junctions 25 and 23 and divert traffic as detailed below:

• Drivers to exit the A12 at junction 25 (Marks Tey) and should join the A120 westbound towards Braintree
• At Marks Farm Roundabout, take the first exit and continue straight leading to Galleys Corner Roundabout and Great Notley Roundabout
• At Great Notley Roundabout, take the first exit and follow the A131 to Generals Lane Roundabout
• At Generals Lane Roundabout, rejoin the A12 northbound at junction 19 to continue the journey
