♻️ Boost for Colchester's Recycling: New Materials Accepted from September 2025

Colchester City Council is making it easier than ever for residents to recycle more from home. Starting 29 September 2025, the council will expand its kerbside plastics recycling service to include flexible plastics and cartons/Tetra Paks.

This means you'll soon be able to recycle items like:

  • 🥗 Salad bags, crisp packets, bread bags, zip lock bags, and shopping bags
  • 🧃 Juice cartons, milk cartons, soup cartons, and other food cartons

This long-awaited change is a major step forward in reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill or incineration, while helping Colchester improve its recycling rates and environmental impact.

Residents are encouraged to check updated recycling guidance closer to the rollout date and help spread the word across their communities.

Together, we're building a cleaner, greener Colchester.
